May 29, 2014. Donald trump may be many things but he sure knows how to create luxury. Spent a lovely night at the Macleod house, an old Scottish manor now part of the trump international golf course outside Aberdeen. The property is simply stunning. Rumor has it that rory mcilroy and Phil Mickelson will be lodging here for the Scottish open next month. The clubhouse serves delicious food and our evening was spent gazing at the immaculate practice green, listening to the sounds of the North Sea amidst the laughter of friends and of course several pours of scotch (it doesn’t turn dark till after 10pm).

After a restful night at the house, we were ready to tee off at the trump course which opened in 2012. Certainly it doesn’t have the history of St. Andrews or Carnoustie but what a course. Our group was unanimous in the verdict… One of the prettiest courses we had played. My caddie Cameron, an ex cop, was delightful and kept reminding me stay relaxed and swing through. Priceless advice when you are surrounded by sand dunes and gorse. One advice for golfers heading to Scotland, practice your bunker play.. They are plenty here and at some point you will end up in them.

Back at the clubhouse it was times for some Scottish salmon and you guessed a shot of Jura ( my favorite scotch this far). The staff at the clubhouse was an international mix, Romanians, Lithuanians, South Africans and locals. One thing we all had in common, love of golf and almost everyone there visited Florida during the winters months. Onwards now to Inverness. Tomorrow we have an early morning start at Dornoch.. 36 holes await us…
