Min-Young Lee wins Yamaha Ladies Open 2017

April 3, 2017: Korea’s Min-Young Lee closed with a two-under-par 70 to win the Yamaha Ladies Open on Sunday.

Lee, who survived from cancer, scripted an emotional win at the Katsuragi Golf Club.

She returned with a winning score of nine-under-par 279 to defeat home favourite Ayaka Watanabe by one shot. Watanabe’s title chances faded when she double bogeyed the 16th hole.

Ji-Yai Shin, who finished second last year, settled for third place on a 282 total, three shots back from the winner.

Lee hopes her victory will be an inspiration to all cancer victims and survivors. It was her first win on the Japan LPGA Tour in what is only her fifth appearance.
