Queen's Cup: Anirban Lahiri hopes to win more with his wife on his side

5th June, 2014. This year has been exceptional for ace Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri. For the last one year he has been on the top of his game. Now when he has tied the knot with long time sweetheart Ipsa Jamwal last weekend, things are appearing even more exciting for him.

Headed for the Queen’s Cup in the Santaburi Samui island of Bangkok with his newly married wife, Anirban is gushing with joy- “It’s nice to have her accompany me. Off the course, it’s a lot of fun. It’s very relaxing and it keeps me fresh and motivated on the course.” The marriage has kept him off the course for just ten days but he is happy and concedes that it was the much needed break.

When asked about the much talked about marriage, Lahiri said, “It was a happy week, a busy week and a hectic week. Indian weddings are complicated affairs!” Especially so when the groom is part of the organising of the celebrations. “I was organising a lot of it myself, with my friends and relatives helping out. Hardly had any time to breathe, haven’t had much sleep in the last 10 days. I’m looking forward to the afternoon tee offs here.” He believes that with his personal life going well, his game too will be heading towards the right direction.

Lahiri had a traditional Indian wedding in Pune with all his friends and family coming in to attend. His friends from the golf community like Shiv Kapur could not make it since he was participating in the Nordea Masters but then Rashid Khan was excited to be there. His friend Rikard Karlberg conveyed his best wishes saying,” Huge congratulations of course and that he might give me some tip how not to get cold feet for my wedding in February next year.’’ Here is hoping that this year brings Lahiri many more reasons to smile, this time with his queen by his side.
